Chicago 2012
Potluck Gatherings

August 4 • September 1
Dear Men of Spirit,

The response to Chicago's monthly Gay Spirit Visions Chicago Potluck Gatherings has been amazing, and I'm glad these events are being embraced so warmly by this community. Below are the dates for the next several gatherings.  Please join us if you can!
• August 4 • September 1

As you ponder what you might like to bring to a GSV potluck, please bear in mind that the food you bring will nourish not just other men but our community as a whole. With that in mind, we invite you to invest something of yourself in the dish you bring. We aren’t straight men, after all, and we know a thing or two about cooking, right?  We reveal a bit about ourselves through the food we bring, so let’s be a little like the African American sisters in their Sunday hats and REPRESENT!  Let your inner gourmet come out to play, and show off those culinary skills you've been working on for so long.   And, that being said, if you REALLY can’t cook – like, you scorch water – then, yeah, maybe it’s better if you bring beverages or a rotisserie chicken. This is meant to be a nurturing gathering so, if you must buy something instead of cook it yourself, please consider healthier and more nutritious options over soda and chips. While we would love for you to bring something delicious and spectacular, the most important things to bring will be yourself and an open heart.   Please bear in mind that the Chicago Monthly Gatherings are alcohol-free to make them safe spaces for those who may be in recovery.

Bring a container, take home a feast!
In addition to the dish you bring to share, you are invited to bring containers to take a bit of everything home with you.  There's always a lot of food left after one of these potlucks, and we LOVE sharing!  Bring a container, or bring several -- Tupperware, Zip-Lock bags, Pyrex bowls with locking rubber tops, whatever you have -- and take some food home with you.  That amazing cake that you wanted three pieces of? Take a couple more pieces.  That delicious soup that was simmering on the oven?  Pack some up and have it on Sunday!  Sharing food is one of the ways in which we create a community, and this is an opportunity to try some things that maybe you were just too full for on Saturday night.
